Sanur Bali

In this area, you can walk for enjoying the beach. But if you want to swim, you must wait until the sea rise, because when it set the water depth is about at your knee. It is the alternative tourism place in Bali for enjoying the sea, the sand and the sun.

Equally to Kuta, it has more expensive accommodation than in Kuta but cheaper than Nusa Dua. Mostly, inns in Sanur has air conditioning and swimming pool. In the north of Sanur there is Grand Bali Beach Hotel. It is the big and luxurious hotel, since it has golf field and on the south there are some hotels, restaurants and stores facing to the beach on Danau Tamblingan Street. The names of the street here use the name one of the lake in Indonesia.

Much kind of restaurants are spread around the beach, so it will be easy for you to find place for dining which is less cheap than in hotel restaurant. You will not only get a cheaper dine here, but also for the handicrafts, clothes, and others unique stuffs.

Sanur atmosphere is quite different with Kuta. It is quieter than in Kuta. Of course there are some boys who is sometime disturbing you selling some stuffs. In the night, if you are bored, you can go to Kuta. It is actually close to Sanur, you will enjoy the night until morning by dances, or other entertainment there.

You can also enjoy the night in Rumours Nightclub which is located in Pantai Sindhu street, although it is not merry as in Kuta. Some of local teenagers and tourists love to visit it. Whereas Bali Janger discotheque is usually visited by locals. Another popular club in Sanur is No 1 Club.

If you are shopper mania, you can visit the stores in Bypass Ngurah Rai Street to find some unique things. Then, you can visit Jaya kesuma Art Market, Double U shopping centre, Sanur Beach Market, Sindhu Art Market or Dayang Art market to buy some souvenirs and clothes.

For exercise in Sanur, you can do windsurfing, parasailing, jet ski, water ski, or snorkeling. Diving is not interesting exercise in here, but you can enjoy many kind fishes in coral area by snorkeling. In this area, you also can do bowling or golf on Inna Grand Bali Beach Hotel area.

Places of Interest in Sanur

Sanur has not only famous with the beach and a quiet living place as Ubud, but also has some places of interest that the tourist should visited. A diamond hotel resort, Bali Hyatt Sanur is also located here. You can check out for some of the interesting places in Sanur like the museum, orchid park and others.

Le Meyeur Museum
It shows the painting by Adrien Jean Le Mayeur de Merpes (1880-1958), a Belgium artist. The painting was paint since he had traveled around the world such as in Africa, India, Italia, France, and South Pacific.

He arrived in Bali in 1932, and then in next three years, he married with beautiful Legong Dancer, Ni Polok, who was 15 years old. They lived in Sanur in 1935 until 1958 when Sanur area was the silent fisherman village. She lived there until she was dead.

The painting shows the Balinese daily activity and the beautiful Balinese ladies. It was painted since he arrived in Bali, but unfortunately the painting untreated as well.

Today the Mayeur house functioned as a museum with Balinese architecture. The pace and elegance house is located on the edge of beach, between Grand Bali Beach and Diwingkara.

Bali Orchid Park
Bali Orchid Park is located in the north of Sanur. Here you can enjoy thousands of beautiful orchids. If you are an orchid lover, you must be interesting to visit it, because many kind of orchid just grow up here. Not only enjoying the flowers, but you can also buying and get the planting instruction book.

Tiang Batu
A stone pole in the backside of Pura Belangjong is one of the oldest inheritances in Bali. Tiang Batu it was written about the history of Balinese victory last a thousand years ago. It is shows that Hindu had been here before Majapahit arrived in Bali.
