Bali is a small island. It is only 5,780 kilometers square. This small island has also small streets on it, especially in southern side and Ubud area.
Actually, Bali has public transportation service. Metro Bus and Grab / Gojek is the most popular one. Metro bus is connecting between Ubud to Denpasar and Jimbaran, but still even the local does not satisfy with the service. While probably Gojek (scooter option, not car) is popular among tourist, but it is only suitable for short trip inside one area.
Canggu is nowdays not good for traffic. Tibubeneng, one of area in Canggu is the worst. Especially from early afternoon to late afternoon time. Under lunch time to the sunset time. Traffic jam is bound to happen!
The mix between scooters and cars on the road combined altogether make a trip between Seminyak to Tanah Lot which is usually only take an hour become 4 hours!
The hub between Canggu and Seminyak has the problem, bad traffic jam. Driving inside Seminyak area itself can be take more than an hour. Especially under end office hour the road condition will be increasingly crowded.
The same road condition also accur in Kuta, just like in Seminyak. From Legian to Kuta area, including the one heading to Kuta beach there are too many scooters and cars, fill that one way road.
As the sun approaches sunset at Kuta beach, the roads become more congested.
Jalan Raya Uluwatu (Uluwatu street) is the worst point of traffic jam. This uphill road is the only way to go to Jimbaran or Uluwatu area. So patient is number one priority passing by this road.
Ubud is alco a small village just like Canggu. As the area is very popular among the tourist from the very first time, Ubud nowdays is becoming more crowded. Ubud center is the worst part.
Trip from Monkey Forest to Tegalalang now could be taken an hour which is usully only 15 min!
Choose a small size of car rental is a wise option. It will give more flexibilty to move, turn and absolutely easier to drive and park.
Remember when driving a small car rental, be sure the number of your passenger. Small car size should be fit with 2 - 4 people with one or two standard luggage.
Driving an automatic car gear or transmission is highly advised in Bali. Automatic car is easier and more comfortable to drive compared with manual one. It also can resting the feet when stuck in traffic.

Candidasa can be reached out from Bali airport for about 1h45m.

Padangbai area also very close to Candidasa area which is only need about 20 min drive.

Sanur is great for family with children and seniors, with quiter beach and long jogging track along the beach.
Danau Tamblingan street is the most popular street in Sanur with ICON Bali Mall, a prestigious beachfront-retail-entertainment mall and many other fun things ready to be explored.
In addition, there is a port in Sanur called Sanur port located at Matahari Terbit street. It is a popular port for tourist to go to Nusa Penida island, another favorit destination in south Bali. Munduk is a mountain tourism village located in Buleleng district and many things to do in Munduk such as sightseeing of waterfall, lake, trekking, rice terrace, mountain, palace, etc.

Just same with Munduk, Lovina is also located at the north side of Bali. The distance is about 1h drive from Munduk.
