Garuda Wisnu Kencana BaliGaruda Wisnu Kencana (GWK) is a culture park in Bali. The park location are in Ungasan at the upside of Jimbaran hill. It's about 40 km from Denpasar. The GWK will be as a landmark of Bali, the Wisnu God Statue which riding on the back of the mythical bird Garuda. The statue was designed and built by Nyoman Nuarta, one of Indonesia's famous modern sculptor. This statue is stands 150 meters tall with it's wings span 64 meters across. It's made from more than 4000 tons of cooper and brass. But now this statue was divided in three parts and it's have been placed temporarily in three different places within the park. This could be the biggest statue not only in Jimbaran area, but also in Bali. GWK will be surrounded by more than 240 hectares cultural park which was once an abandoned and unproductive limestone quarry. The cultural park will provide attractions for both local and foreign visitors with supporting facilities such as Lotus Pond, Festival Park, Amphitheatre, Street Theatre, Exhibition Hall and the Panoramic Resto and souvenir shop. We can also see the kecak Dance there. Mostly, the visitors who has been coming to this place is locals. Not much for the tourist coming from overseas.
